Swagger Jackers Get Back!

(click the pic to LISTEN)
SWAG'R JAK'N (BAY GRL RMX)

Rocky Rivera and Talia Taylor team up on this one to rep for bay girls coming with and overload of original flows and style...so much that people tend to jack a lil. I heard the track over at the Attik house when Talia was laying down her verse. I'm honored to call both of these talented Lady Spittas friends. They both hold there own in the arena, dismantling stages for years, rawking fresh gear, overall repping for the whole bay area from the Town to the ity bity city.

What does a feminist look like to you?

YOU CAN PAINT ME AS A FEMINIST BUT NO THIS WE COME IN ALL SHADES, SISTERS AND BROTHERS MAKING CHANGE, AIN'T AFRAID TO SHAKE GROUND AND REARRANGE, PROGRESSION IN THIS RECESSION AND AIM, LIKE A SHOT 'CEPT NOT VIOLENT, SPEAKING LOUD NOT SILENT, RESILIENT SOMETIMES MILITANT, PEACEFUL WITH MOVEMENTS THAT HAVE SEQUELS

WHAT DOES A FEMINIST LOOK LIKE TO YOU

YOU CAN PAINT ME AS A FEMINIST BUT KNOW THIS please don't put me in no boxes Im claustrophobic and that obnoxious, found round all people so put those labels down there lethal...

What is a feminist to you? Can she be feminine, can she be traditional? can she rap? can she paint? can she cook? can she think? can she dance? can she wink? can she wear a tight shirt and a short skirt? can she rawk a kangol with some hi top Adidas with a matching fit? can she sew or knit? can she get married? can she love? can she be white? can she look right? can she be black? can she laugh? can she be latina? can she be free? can she be asian? can she be amazing? can (s)he be a dude? can she be from the hood? can she be in the white house? the answers yes and than some, cause a feminist comes in all forms...

I just read Niema Jordans blog post over at "Twenty something Renaissance" and it inspired me to post this blog on What a feminist looks like. Gender Roles and Feminism is something i have written songs, poems, and even reports on, with a vision in my head that i wanted to tare down. I feel like a lot of people feel the Woman's movement is over but as my homegirl Wendy just pointed out to me it hasn't even been 100 years since women got the right to vote. Above is a slide show of images, some kind of random, but they all are feminists, some more controversial, some more famous, some are activists, some are arists, some are rappers, some are my friends, some are men, some are mothers, some are fathers, So make room for new images of what a feminist looks like this is my challenge to you...I'm sure I left some out. What is your view of feminism? Is it limited to people who are active or vocal about Woman's Rights, How has it changed over history, and how is it different amoung different cultures and races?

disecting some lyrics that may offend white folks...that i like!

alright so i been talking about this concept for a while but never really was able to communicate all of my feeling and thoughts in there entirety...but basically I love lyrics that "hate on white folks" in hip hop songs---> mostly because the specific songs I am talking about I agree with what there saying. Also because Hip Hop is a type a black music (which is a channel for brown and black folks to be uplifted and unified) but its also the "cool" and bought by white folks.

So I love the line in EYEASAGE's song when she says:
"Don't let the white people tell you the formula of success cause history will tell you that will be a knife in the chest"

Resurrect ft. Bambu - EyeASage

---> now some folks may think "Dang that's hating on white folks" but to me she's asking you to look at history not the warped one we learned in schools the real history and when you do you will see : from La Isabella (where Christopher Columbus first sailed to and began to slaughter gazillions of native folks that had BEEN there and then claim the land as his) or the Philippines or pretty much anywhere white folks went and played divide and conquer and even recent history or even current wars in the middle east.

Now another line that I am a fan of comes from Bambu's song Like Us, same thang goes for this one, if you are not aware of the context than you may say its anti white but look deeper and see it is more about unifying brown and black folks and countering the racist mentality that "white is better" and giving sisters of a darker shade some love which I am never opposed to--->

"...especially when she been told her beauty comes second to the white, now its white women collagen in lips and fake tits now we over look a sister cause a white girl thick uhhh naw has me scractn my head I have never I will never I rather be dead"

Like Us - Bambu

---> this shit is dope for so many reasons. I love when people speak on it like this.

there are hella other songs that speak on it like this but i don't have the lyrics memorized but I encourage you when you here a song to look deeper into the lyrics if it stirs some emotions up for you because the artist most likely said it for that very reason.

One Love!

for all the Cup Cakers out there

Caked And Screwed - EyeASage

Feeling this ish right here how come underground artists always do it better?

GET YA SHIT TOGETHER! foo
I ain't hating cause I cup cake too
But don't let everything revolve around yo boo
This song right here, EyeASage's words are true
I guess you can call it cup cake commandments part 2
But I hope that these young girls get un blinded and see
That having a baby ain't the fantasy its cracked up to be
Shit babies gotta eat and clothes and pampers ain't free...
